Abstract

"The intention of this bachelor thesis is to present the design and development of a fully automatic overhead stowage compartment lifting device for the aircraft cabin of an Airbus A380. Airbus already offers an electromechanical hand-force control system. However, this device has been criticized for having a much too high system weight. Another complaint was the missing centralized operating and monitoring opportunity over a flight attendant panel. With the introduction of this new automatic lifting device, which is not only significantly more user friendly but also ensures travelling in high comfort, a weight benefit of almost 45% was achieved. Thus, the device is far more compact and lightweight compared to the old design. Furthermore, the number of components was reduced from 103 to 34 parts. This will ensure an improved reliability but at diminished costs. Another advantage of this conceptis the energy supply by using electric energystorage. Thereby the opening and closing within a breakdown can be ensured. Moreover, the flight attendants will have the possibility to lock and unlock all bins over a control panel."
