Abstract

"Physical modeling tools play a very important role in the automotive sector. Conventional mathematical equations could be replaced by graphical components to represent the system more clearly. Such an approach results in building up a simulation model of the system in close resemblance to the actual physical system. In this master thesis, simulation models of the different components of the battery pack are created with the help of Simscape toolbox. Different approaches are used for modeling each component and the models are tested under different scenarios. Finally, it is integrated into the Hardware-in-the-Loop environment to test the behavior of the Battery Control Unit (BCU) in case of a battery pack abuse test. Therefore, real abuse tests are only needed for the battery pack validation and not for the BCU-SW validation."
