Abstract

"This thesis discusses the development of avionic software systems for the integrated modular avionics (IMA) technology. The tool to be considered will be SCADE, a model oriented development tool from Esterel Technologies. Following the overview of the tool and the IMA technology in general, it will be determined which characteristics of IMA are relevant to the software system design and therefore need to be considered. A high lift system of Airbus will be analysed which have been design with SCADE. On those models, especially the structure, dataflow and the scheduling will be highlighted. It will be determined which changes need to be made to the models to implement them on an IMA platform. Although the functional model doesn’t contain any information about it, it will be necessary to have a closer look at the redundancy of hardware and software components. Commonly, the knowledge about the platform structure is very limited at the beginning of the design process. It will be discussed how the possible redundancy can be taken into account right from the beginning under these circumstances. From all those observations a few rules for the modelling of IMA capable systems in SCADE will be derived. For the validation of the generated models, it will normally be necessary to take them out of SCADE due to the limited test capabilities of the tool. It suggests itself to use the host operating system simulator for that purpose. This procedure will be walked through at the end as a transition to future development opportunities. Finally, there will be a look at the implementation of generated software, which is an important point for the actual application of the results."
